Statement from the ISC president – March 1
Publié le 1 March 2022
We just received the following statement from the ISC President, Gillian Rayner:
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you. The military conflict taking place in Ukraine is terrifying for us all but especially for our Ukrainian friends who find themselves under attack.
FAI’s and ISC’s fundamental aim is to maintain integrity and support the development of air sports across all nations in line with a set of values laid out in our statutes that nurture inclusion and transcend national differences.
To maintain that aim and taking into consideration the actions of other international sporting organisations, the FAI Executive Board has taken the decision to suspend both the Russian and the Belarus NACs for an undetermined time.
What does this mean for ISC?
The immediate consequences are that there will be no Russian or Belarus delegation allowed to participate in the upcoming FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving nor will there be present any official (judge or jury) from either country. All Russian and Belarus nationals within ISC’s Bureau, Committees and Working Groups are suspended from their roles until further notice.
We have also received confirmation that these countries are excluded from the World Games to be held in July in Birmingham, Alabama.
After that, we can only hope that peace will prevail, and the suspension will be short-lived.
My best wishes to our whole community, hoping that the friendships forged over many years will not be destroyed by politics and that every one of you and your loved ones remain safe.
